FC Cincinnati acquired defender Yerson Mosquera from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC of the English Premier League on loan, the club announced on February 2, 2022. Mosquera, 21, joins Cincinnati through June 30, 2023, with an option to extend his loan to the end of the 2023 MLS season.
OUTSIDE MLS: Joined the Orange and Blue from Wolves, where he made four appearances for the Wanderers’ U-21 squad in the Premier League 2 in 2022-23 … signed with Wolves in June 2021 on a five-year deal from Atlético Nacional of Categoría Primera A, Colombia’s top flight, and made his debut with the Wolves first team in the Carabao Cup Third Round against Tottenham Hotspur in September 2021 … with Wolves U-21 squad in the 2021-22 season, he made five appearances, including scoring one goal on February 28, 2022 against Reading FC’s U-21 side … arrived at Wolves after making his professional debut with Atlético Nacional in 2020, where he quickly became a standout for the Medellín-based backline … made 27 total appearances over parts of two seasons, including seven appearances in the prestigious Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL, where he helped Los Verdolagas advance past the second and third rounds to reach the group stage.
INTERNATIONAL: Has made four youth appearances with Colombia, including two with the Colombian U-20 National Team in friendlies against the Ecuadorian U-20 side in December 2020, where he faced off against new teammate Marco Angulo … both Mosquera and Angulo played all 90 minutes in the two friendly matches held four days apart, with Mosquera scoring a header goal in the latter of the two matchups on Dec. 19, 2020 in Quito.
