TV: Univision, TUDN, TSN, TVAS
Atlanta United open the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the site of their 2018 MLS Cup triumph, when they host the New England Revolution on Oct. 19.
While this is the first playoff game between the Eastern Conference foes, it is a rematch of a Decision Day presented by AT&T showdown, won 3-1 by the Five Stripes at the same venue. Julian Gressel paced Atlanta with one goal and two assists, capping the scoring in the 57th minute with a thunderous strike. Gressel set up goals by Darlington Nagbe and Josef Martinez, who made a triumphant return from injury to score his 27th goal of the season as Atlanta United clinched the No. 2 seed in the East. Cristian Penilla scored the lone goal for the Revs, the No. 7 seed.
The winner faces either the Philadelphia Union or New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference Semifinals Oct. 24 at 7:30 pm ET.
