10 MLS free agents to watch this offseason
Major League Soccer's winter market is about to kick off.
With his eye for goal and burst of speed, Fabrice Jean "Fafá" Picault brings a different dimension to the 'Caps attack. Â
The Haitian international agreed to a contract through 2024, with an option for 2025.
NASHVILLE SC
'23: During the 2023 season, Picault scored nine goals in for Nashville across all competitions, including the MLS regular season, U.S. Open Cup, and Leagues Cup where he scored in both the semifinal and final.Â
HOUSTON DYNAMO FC
'21-'22: Across two seasons with Houston Dynamo FC, Picault recorded 18 goals and eight assists in 61 MLS appearances. The forward enjoyed a career year in his first season with the club, scoring 11 goals and adding five assists.
FC DALLAS
'20: In his lone season with FC Dallas, Picault started 13 of his 20 appearances in MLS play, recording three goals and two assists.
PHILADELPHIA UNION
'17-'19: Picault's first spell in MLS came with Eastern Conference side Philadelphia Union, originally joining the team ahead of the 2017 season. The Haitian international started 76 of his 99 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals and notching 14 assists across all competitions.
EUROPE & EARLY CAREER
'12-'17: Prior to playing in MLS, Picault spent three years playing in Europe with German 2. Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli, where he recorded four goals and three assists in 22 league appearances from 2015-17, and a brief spell in Czech Republic with Sparta Prague. In his youth, Picault played for the youth and reserve sides of Italian club Cagliari before moving on to kickstart his professional career with Tampa Bay Rowdies and Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the North American Soccer League (NASL).
INTERNATIONAL
At the international level, Picault made two appearances for the United States men’s national team in 2016 and 2018. Born to Haitian parents, Picault made a one-time switch to Haiti, with whom he has gone on to play with at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League.
