PRONUNCIATION: Ka-WAHR-ah-say

If MLS fans hadn’t heard of Adam Kwarasey before he joined the team prior to the 2015 season, it didn’t take them long to become acquainted with the kind of acrobatic fireworks the Ghanian is known for. He quickly won the starting spot and became a vital piece of the Timbers’ MLS Cup-winning defensive architecture, playing almost 3,000 minutes and anchoring the back line with 13 shutouts. Kwarasey quickly became known for his sprawling saves and feline reflexes, not to mention his preternatural calm between the sticks.

INTERNATIONAL: Since making his debut for Ghana in 2011, Kwarasey has made more than 20 caps with the full national team, including in a 2-1 loss against the U.S. in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

OUTSIDE MLS: Kwarasey came up in Norway with Vålerenga before making his name with Strømsgodset, where he earned 154 games from 2007-2014. That precipitated his move to MLS.
