Davies baby, Davies!
In a town known for its flashy entertainment, Vancouver Whitecaps teenage phenom Alphonso Davies brought the house down with a sensational goal as part of a wild 3-2 win over USL expansion side Las Vegas Lights FC Saturday night.
The 17-year-old midfielder, who took the region by storm when the Canadian international was named to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup Best XI last summer, wowed the crowd at Cashman Field with an end-to-end run in the 18th minute that had to be seen to be believed.
Davies, the third-youngest player to sign in MLS history, via a Homegrown Player contact in the middle of the 2016 season, started the sequence with a touch forward inside his own 18-yard box and accelerated past a Las Vegas player and into space along the touchline with his second touch.
With no one coming to close him down, Davies worked his way inside the Las Vegas 18-yard box and slipped a low shot past the onrushing goalkeeper to put the finishing touches on his wondergoal.
