Veteran defender Jalil Anibaba joins the Houston Dynamo

Jalil Anibaba - Sporting Kansas City - 2015 season

The Houston Dynamo have boosted their defense by signing free agent Jalil Anibaba, who last season played with Sporting KC.

ā€œWe are delighted to bring a player of Jalilā€™s quality and experience to our club,ā€ Dynamo head coach Owen Coyle said in a team statement.

In addition to Sporting KC, the athletic 27-year-old defender has played for two other MLS clubs, the Chicago Fire and the Seattle Sounders. The Dynamo are hoping that Anibabaā€™s arrival will help improve the clubā€™s defense which finished in the middle of MLS clubs with 49 goals conceded last season.

ā€œWeā€™re very pleased to announce the addition of Jalil to our roster,ā€ Dynamo vice president and general manager Matt Jordan said. ā€œHis MLS experience, athleticism and professional approach to the game will be a welcomed addition to our backline. He joins our club at a very good age and is eager to contribute to the success of the team moving forward.ā€

Anibaba has appeared in 128 MLS games in his career and has made 121 starts, scoring five goals and adding 10 assists across five seasons.
