The San Jose Earthquakes announced Thursday they have signed 2020 MLS SuperDraft second-round selection Jack Skahan to a multi-year contract. The midfielder traveled with the first team to Cancún, Mexico for their two-week preseason trip, in which he tallied one goal and one assist in two preseason friendlies.

“Considering how well Jack performed during his first MLS preseason while adjusting seamlessly to his new home, we are hopeful about his future development,” said Earthquakes GM Jesse Fioranelli in a statement. “We are excited to be able to sign two of three players we selected in the 2020 SuperDraft and I would like to recognize the entire team of people responsible for identifying and helping integrate the players into our squad.”

Skahan was a four-year starter at North Carolina with 12 goals and 12 assists in 71 appearances (60 starts). Before college, he competed for the Philadelphia Union academy and had appeared for the US U-16 national team.
