The LA Galaxy have transferred midfielder Edwin Cerrillo to LIGA MX powerhouse Club América for an undisclosed fee, the club announced Saturday.
The FC Dallas homegrown product joined LA in August 2023. He produced 1g/5a in 117 matches and helped the Galaxy win 2024 MLS Cup presented by Audi.
The former US youth international previously recorded 0g/4a in 96 appearances for Dallas.
"Since arriving in Los Angeles three years ago, Edwin has left an indelible mark on our club," said Will Kuntz, LA's general manager. "From the moment he joined the Galaxy, he embodied the professionalism, work ethic and team-first mentality of a Galaxy player.
"Edwin was a vital part of our success in the 2024 MLS Cup championship run, earning the respect of everyone in the organization through the way he carried himself every day and stood up for his teammates.
"We are grateful for everything he has given to the Galaxy and wish Edwin the best as he begins this next chapter."
