Canada announce roster for opening Octagonal 2022 World Cup Qualifiers

Canada's roster is out for September's World Cup Qualifiers, and there's plenty of MLS representation among head coach John Herdman's 23-player group as Concacaf final-round matches get underway.

New England Revolution forward Tajon Buchanan, Colorado Rapids midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye and Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio headline the 11 MLS players who received call-ups for two home games at BMO Field in Toronto and one away bout at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

The home matches will see Canada host Honduras on Sept. 2 (8:05 pm ET | OneSoccer) and El Salvador on Sept. 8 (7:30 pm ET | OneSoccer), with a massive clash against the US men's national team sandwiched in between on Sept. 5 (8 pm ET | FS1, UniMás, TUDN).

The MLSers join a unit that's headlined by Vancouver Whitecaps FC academy product and current Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, as well as Lille forward and Ligue 1 champion Jonathan David.
