TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Austin FC have reached an agreement with Finnish side SJK Seinäjoki to acquire midfielder Eze Onuoha, the club announced Monday.Â
Onuoha will officially join Austin ahead of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season after his 18th birthday in December. He will be under contract through the 2029-30 season with an option for 2030-31.
When he arrives in Austin, Onuoha will occupy a U22 Initiative roster slot.Â
"Eze is a young prospect with potential, and we are excited to welcome him to Austin FC. Despite his age, he has already shown qualities that we value in our players, including technical ability, ambition, and a strong desire to continue improving," said Khaled El-Ahmad, Austin's chief soccer officer and sporting director.Â
"We believe Austin is a great environment for young players to develop, and we look forward to supporting Eze as he continues his growth and adapts to the next stage of his career."
Onuoha joined SJK in August 2025 from FC Honka and scored on his first-team debut in the Finnish top flight. He's since tallied 4g/1a in 22 games for SJK across all competitions.
At the youth international level, Onuoha has made nine appearances spanning Finland's U-17s and U-18s.Â
"For me as a young player, Austin FC represents a new challenge in a new country," said Onuoha. "This opportunity to be a part of a club and a city as unique as Austin really excites me and I feel it’s the perfect next step."
